I have known Molly for many years and had recently attended her wedding. Molly lives with her husband in a large country farmhouse set on top of a hill amongst 95 hectares of their beautiful property not far from Bathurst NSW.
This was a commission I absolutely enjoyed painting for Molly. She had seen the magpie I had painted for another client and so sent me a message to see if I was interested in a commission to paint some Galahs for her.
Molly loves living in the country and enjoys watching the antics of the flocks of Galahs that are frequent visitors to their farm.
In preparation of this commission I checked my photos of Galahs that I had taken and although I had quite a few none seemed to be the right image.
I then compiled a number of options from photos I found online and Molly picked the one of a pair of Galahs perched on an old rusty leaking tap.
I must admit it was my favourite too. I had already modified the original in photoshop to remove part of a tap that obscured the Galah on the right. I also spent a long time trying to find the original creator of this photograph to get permission to use it as a reference for the commission. However after many hours searching I could not identify the original copyright holder.
I took some snapshots during the process of creating this painting which I have put together in a short video. Molly loved her painting and has framed it to match her country kitchen.
"I recently commissioned an artwork by John for my kitchen! I love when galahs visit the farm and John helped me choose a photo that reflected their cheeky personalities! It is a perfect addition to my art collection! Thank you Johnny! ❤️ "
